Mt. Everest: highest mountain on earth with a height of 8.848m, incalculably and incredible fascinating at the same time, first ascent in 1953 by Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary. All these thoughts come automatically in our minds when we hear this name. And it inspires many of us to experience this mountain in reality, to explore the area, where the big expeditions on the peak start and to feel the atmosphere between these huge mountains and large glaciers, which let us feel so small compared to this incredible landscape.

You can hardly find a region which is more spectacular than Everest region. It is where four of the world's six tallest peaks Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu, and Cho Oyu rise above everything else, crowning the towering ridges that straddle the forbidding Himalayans. 
 

The Everest Base Camp trek is the grandest walk in the land of the Himalayas. Trekking through the Everest region offers stunning mountain views, and opportunities to get a glimpse into the life of world famous climbers (the Sherpas). The trek further offers the opportunitiy to walk through Sagarmatha National Park, a world heritage site that is home to a variety of Himalayan floras and faunas, to get a closer look at the highest Buddhist monasteries in the world, and, of course, the most gratifying of them all, the trip to Everest Base Camp itself. It is an opportunity to embark on an epic journey that Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay set off on in 1953. 
 

​But nothing beats the thrill and sense of accomplishment that grips travelers on seeing the power and grace of the mighty Everest up close.

Everest Base Camp Trek - Details Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu 
Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, a representative from our organisation picks you up and transfers you to the hotel. Today you have a welcome dinner and can try authentic Nepali food like Dal Bhaat, what Nepali people eat 2 times a day. You also get to know your guides who provide you a detailed briefing on your upcoming trek so that you are well prepared for the trip and any last-minute question will be answered.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu (1335 meters)
Today you visit the most important sightseeing locations of Kathmandu. After breakfeast you drive to Swayambunath, the "Monkey Temple" of Kathmandu, a buddhist pilgrimage place with a small stupa. After that you visit the Kathmandu Durbar Square with its pagodes, the home of the living goddess Kumari.
Then you drive further to Pashupatinath. It is an important pilgrimage place for Hindus and a lot believers from India come there every week. There are lots of temples and at the shore of the holy Bagmati River, the believers burn there dead relatives. Then you go back to the big stupa of Boudhnath, which is also known as little Tibet and enjoy your dinner at the rooftop of the hotel with view of the stupa. 

Day 03: Flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and Trek to Phakding
After breakfast, we will be escorted to Kathmandu domestic airport for an early morning flight to Lukla (2,800m), which is itself a great adventure and takes about 40 minutes. This is one of the most beautiful air routes in the world culminating in a dramatic landing on a hillside surrounded by high mountains peaks. In Lukla we will meet our other crew members and after some packing and arrangements, we start our trek through the prosperous village of Lukla until we reach Phakding. Our walking distance is not far today, so if you are interested, you can visit a small monastery near Phakding. 

Day 04: Trek to Namche Bazar
Today you will follow the Dudh Koshi River and cross several rope bridges, one of them the famous Hillary Suspension Bridge. The first few hours the way is not very steep and you can get the first great views of  Mt. Thamserku (6618m) and enter Sagarmatha National Park. After crossing Hillary Bridge, the trail starts getting very steep and you have to climb about 1 1/2 hours until you reach Namche Bazar, which is the main trading centre of this region. If you forgot anything you need for the trekking you can be sure that you can buy it here.

Day 05: Acclimatization day in Namche and Visit of Khumjung (3800m)
Because we have to become accustomed to the height, we stay one night more in Namche. Health experts recommend us to stay active and moving during the day.
After breakfast we will visit the Tourist Visitor Center near the headquarter of the Sagarmatha National Park where we can observe an assortment of things related to the first Everest ascenders, Sherpa culture and learn about the various plant and animal life of the Everest region. You can also get great views of the Himalaya from there. Then we will continue our hike to Khumjung village, with a fantastic view of Ama Dablam (6812m). After that we will come back to Namche and spend the rest of the day there.
Because Namche is the main centre of the Everest (Khumbu) region, you can find there government offices, ATMs, Internet cafes, shops, restaurants, a bakery and a colorful market each Friday evening and Saturday. 

Day 06: Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,867m) 
Upon breakfast in Namche, we set out towards Tengboche. Today we have a pleasant walk, accompanied by uperb views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam and close up views of Thamserku. Along the way, we can spot wildlife musk deer, a herd of Himalayan Thar and multicolored pheasants. The trail is easy the first time, almost always going down or straight until we reach Phunki Thenga near Dudh Koshi River. There we will have lunch and after that we follow the path about 1 hour steep up to Tengboche through the pine forest.
Tengboche is a great place for close up views of Mt Ama Dablam, Mt Nuptse, and Mt Everest, and it has the biggest Buddhist Monastery of the Khumbu region. If it fits we will visit the monastery the same day at around 3 pm to witness the ceremony in the principal and popular monastery of Everest region.

Day 07: Tengboche to Dingboche (4,360m) 
In the morning we will continue our way to Dingboche. Our journey starts with a spectacular view of Tenboche monastery in front and the high mountains in the back ground.  
On arrival at Dingboche, we will see beautiful arrays of fields enclosed by stone walls to protect barley, buckwheat and potatoes from the cold winds and grazing animals.

Day 08: Acclimatization day at Dingboche
We spend our second day of acclimatization in Dingboche. A refreshing breakfast while admiring a looming Ama Dablam (6856m/ 22493 ft) to the south is really fantastic. To better appreciate Mt Ama Dablam, Mt Lhotse and numerous other peaks visible from Dingboche, we climb the hill on the north behind the village. This will be an ideal acclimatizing excursion.
From there we can see three of the world's six highest peaks, Mt Lhotse, Mt Makalu and Mt Cho Yu. To the west, loom the towering peaks of Cholatse (6440m) and Taboche (6542m). As we look northwest, we see an array of peaks rising at the head of the Khumbu Khola valley.
The Lobuche West and Lobuche East peaks are most dominant along with Lhotse which stands over 8500 meters (8501m). From a vantage point high on the ridge, we can scan the sweeping Imja Khola valley as well as the picturesque fields and pastures of Dingboche. 

Day 09: Dingboche to Lobuche (4,930m)
Today the way will be mostly straight the first time, offering stanning views of Tawachee and Cholatse. After reaching Dhugla we climb up the steep terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier.
At the top of the ridge, we will find an array of stones with prayer flags used as memorials to Scott Fisher (American mountaineer) and many others who perished on a mission to climb Everest.
As the trail drops to the Khumbu Glacier moraine, we find ourselves facing several great peaks - Khumbutse, Lingtren, Pumori and Mahalangur Himal. We are now in the vicinity of Everest but the great mountain still remains elusive.
Mt. Nuptse towers to the right as the trail crosses the Khumbu Glacier. As we pass along a murmuring stream leaving the Khumbu Glacier behind, we now begin to feel a little out of breath due to high altitude.

Day 10: Lobuche to Gorakshep (5,140m) & Everest Base Camp (5,364m)
The trail to Gorak Shep goes ahead through the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier.
Ahead on the trail we see crest of north ridge of Everest along with Mt. Pumori, Mt. Mahalangur, Mt. Lingtern, Mt. Khumbutse, Mt. Nuptse, etc. A small ascent would take us to Thangma Riju from where we perceive 360 degree vista of snowy mountains.
Climbing steeply up to the top through the torrent of Changri Glacier, we catch our first glimpse of Kala Patthar, a grey-green knoll beneath the Mt. Pumori. As we reach Gorak Shep, we will find snow-capped mountains looming all around us including the top of the world - Mt. Everest.
After a brief lunch and rest, we continue our way to Everest Base Camp. From the Base Camp we are not able to see Everest but instead we have good views of Nuptse, Khumbutse and Pumori.

Day 11: Gorakshep to Kala Pathar (5,550m) and back to Pheriche (4,240m) 
Today we get up early so that we can enjoy the sunset from the top of Kala Pathar. It takes about 2 hours to reach the top and from there we have a 360 degree view of the mountain peaks.
When reaching the top, you will feel joyful as you achieve the moment that you've been dreaming of, since the planning of your journey. You have great views of Khumbu glacier, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse and Mt. Nuptse and enjoy the sun rise behind the peak of Everest. In this moment you know that the effort to reach this top of the world is worth it. We can take as many pictures as we want with our camera but do noy forget to imprint the vista into our mind's eye so that it lasts a lifetime. 
After breakfast in Gorakshep you will trek down to Pheriche.

Day 12: Pheriche to Phortse (3860)
Just after the start of our trek, we cross Khumbu Khola (stream). Today you will feel much easier by walking downhill to a lower elevation.

Day 13: Phortse to Jorsalle (2860)
After breakfast the trail goes down through forest with pine, Jupiter, rhododendron and some few magnolia and birch trees. With the great memories of the spectacular views of the last days it is easy to walk. Short time before we reach Namche we have to say good bye to Ama Dablam, which was a long time present during our trek. Here we will see the high mountains the last time. Only Mt. Thamserku will be visible further down also. 

Day 14: Jorsalle to Lukla (2,800m) 
Because we are acclimatised now It is easy for us to walk in lower elevations. 

Day 15: Fly back to Kathmandu and Transfer to Bhaktapur
We will fly back to Kathmandu early in the morning and drive to our hotel in Bhaktapur. You will have time to relax and recover from the long trek. If you want you can explore Bhaktapur yourself. 

Day 16: Sightseeing in Bhaktapur
After having breakfast you will go for sightseeing in Bhaktapur which is located in the east corner of the Kathmandu Valley. It is an ancient Newar city abought 8 miles far from the capital city Kathmandu. Bhaktapur was the largest of the three Newa kingdoms of the Kathmandu Valley, and was the capital of Nepal during the great "Malla" Kingdom until the second half of the 15th century. It is famous for its rich culture, temples, and wood, metal and stone artworks. Because of this it is also listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
In the evening you will have a farewell dinner with the guide of your tour because it will be the last evening all together.

Day 17: Departure 
Today is free or last minute shopping for souvenirs or gift to your family, friends or relatives. Then you will be transferred to the airport and fly back home.
